I have had the joy and honor of working with youth, adolescents and families for over 25 years in homes, schools and in the community. I believe in taking a proactive, positive approach to support you to find your own solutions to the challenges you face. Life can be difficult. We all need a safe place to think through and discuss what is not working and to identify new ideas for finding balance and happiness. I specialize in school-based support for youth and families, leadership programs for adolescents, professional trainings, parent education workshops and evidence-based treatment for school-age youth for symptoms of depression, anxiety and trauma-related symptoms. I am certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Trauma-Focused CBT and am able to provide services in English or Spanish.
Oliver is our sweet, family dog who joined the family with the purpose of becoming a therapy dog. Unfortunately, it seems his temperament may not work out for this work. Oliver struggles with feeling anxious in a lot of situations. He is learning to feel safer, however may never be calm enough to be appropriate to accompany Marcella for work with children. In the meantime, Marcella continues to work with him on socialization and training.

We do not talk about our children's mental and emotional wellness enough. "Mental Health" has come to mean mental challenges, yet we have not yet implemented effective systems for teaching skills for mental wellness to our children. I support children, adolescents, families and schools to establish systems supporting youth to develop effective mental and emotional wellness habits at home, school and in the community.
